The broadcasts take place on February 9th and 11th
In celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, February 11, the Extension Project team “Girls in the exact: in the Valley they do Science” will promote two online broadcasts with researchers from the Brazilian scientific scene.
On February 9, the conversation will be with the PhD in Biological Sciences Thalita Vieira Pinto, who is a professor at Faculdade Santo Antônio Caçapava, working in the disciplines of Microbiology and Immunology, Cytology, Histology and Embriology, Genetics and Molecular Biology and Ethics and Bioethics .
On February 11, it will be the turn of the live “The climate negotiator”, with the vice-president of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change IPCC, Thelma Krug. She has a PhD in Space Statistics and has worked for 37 years at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). At the meeting, she will talk about environmental policies and the image of Brazil abroad; there will also be a reflection on the choice of the partner that will support their choices.
The date was set by the United Nations (UN) in order to celebrate the achievements of women in science and also to inspire girls who wish to pursue a scientific career.
Professor Maria Tereza Fabbro highlights the importance of the activity to promote gender equality in the sciences. “Together and together we can inspire girls who want to pursue a scientific career and boost female protagonism in our society”, she reflects.
