For the renovation and expansion of the building, donated to the IFSP by the city, R $ 9,5 million were invested
Next Friday (8), the new IFSP campus, located in São José do Rio Preto, will be provisionally delivered. From that date, the Institute has 30 days to identify possible flaws in the work and call the company responsible for the necessary corrections.
Donated by the city hall, the building where the campus will operate has undergone renovation and expansion with an investment of R $ 9,5 million made possible by MEC through a decentralized execution term (TED).
The dean of Administration, Silmário dos Santos, explains that the IFSP unit in Rio Preto is the result of a very strong political action by the mayor of the municipality, Edinho Araújo (MDB). He believes that because it is located in a regional center, with more than 400 thousand inhabitants, the new campus will have a great potential for employability of students. “On the other hand, these students will certainly contribute a lot to the local and regional socioeconomic development”, he says.
Still according to Silmário, the Institution is currently working to obtain authorization from the MEC for the composition of the staff of campuses. For now there is no forecast for the inauguration and start of activities, mainly due to the pandemic that the country has been facing. During this period, the city of Rio Preto will be responsible for the surveillance of the building.
The new IFSP facility has 20 classrooms, ten laboratories, an indoor court, auditorium, library and cafeteria.
